Chair’s statement on the announcement of the death of Lord Shore (24
September 2001)
On the announcement on Monday 24 September that Lord Shore had died, the
Chair of the Committee, Sir Nigel Wicks, issued the following statement
‘It was with great sadness that I heard of Peter Shore’s death. He was
the longest serving member of the Committee having served since its
establishment in 1994. He was a very good colleague to work with and his
deep wisdom, long experience and cogent mind will be greatly missed.’
